In Chernihiv region, a man was sentenced to 3 years for evading mobilization.
According to inkorr.com: A man from Chernihiv region was sentenced to three years in prison for evading mobilization, despite having received summons multiple times. Even in military uniform, he ignored the remarks of his fellow villagers.
Reasons for Evading Mobilization
The defendant, found fit for military service in 2022, avoided the call in April 2024. He explained this by stating that he takes care of his sick mother, who has a second group of disability.
“When the war began in 2022, I voluntarily went to defend my area. And even after July 2022, my plans did not change - my mother was incapacitated and needed constant care,” the defendant told during the court.
Court's Decision
The court did not take into account the man's arguments and convicted him of evading mobilization under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. As a result, he received three years of imprisonment.
This case highlights the seriousness of the mobilization situation in Ukraine, where many men face their own circumstances but at the same time bear responsibility to the state. Against the backdrop of ongoing military actions, such cases evoke a wide resonance in society, as each case of evasion can be perceived as a threat to national security.
