Court Ruling on Single Father’s Mobilization Prompts Response from Dnipro Recruitment Center.
Single Father Called Up in Kryvyi Rih
According to Novyny.live: Officials at the Dnipro Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) have addressed the case of a man who was drafted despite raising a five-year-old daughter alone and lacking an official deferment. Following his mobilization, he was sent to a military unit.
The man received a summons on June 8, 2026, ordering him to report to the Kryvyi Rih TCC by June 18. The very next day, June 19, 2026, he submitted a request for a deferment, but it was denied. A ruling from the Saksahansky District Court of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Region, dated July 3, 2025, had already classified him as fit for military service.
Based on these facts, the man was mobilized and dispatched to a military unit, even though he is the sole caregiver for a young child and had applied for a deferment. The refusal to grant the deferment has sparked outrage among the public and activists advocating for the rights of single fathers.
This case highlights the challenges single parents face during mobilization and demonstrates how legal decisions can impact family circumstances. Activists argue that mobilization rules need revision to better account for family situations, especially in Ukraine, where many households rely on a single caregiver amid the ongoing war.
