European Commission on Putin: He has difficulties recognizing Zelensky

According to ТСН: The European Union is confident that Volodymyr Zelensky is the elected president of Ukraine. Meanwhile, Kremlin President Vladimir Putin has certain difficulties acknowledging this fact.

The European Commission's chief spokesperson, Paula Pinho, emphasized that “President Zelensky is the democratically elected president of Ukraine by the Ukrainian people.”

She also highlighted that the European Union is actively cooperating with Zelensky and supports his “numerous efforts aimed at putting an end to this dreadful war and achieving peace.”

Pinho added that “it is evident that President Putin has certain difficulties recognizing the democratically elected president of his neighboring country — Ukraine.”

Putin's statements on 'peace treaty'

It should be noted that recently during a press conference, Putin made several statements regarding the “peace treaty.” He stated that Moscow is “agreeable” to the idea that the U.S. proposals regarding Ukraine “could serve as a basis for future agreements.”

However, Putin again commented on the “illegitimacy” of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, which, in his opinion, makes it impossible to conclude a legally binding agreement. He also stated that Ukrainians should hold new elections.

In the context of this situation, it is important to note that discussions about peace agreements continue, although the recognition or legitimacy of power in Ukraine remains a subject of international discussion. The European Union's position emphasizes support for democratic processes in Ukraine, while the Kremlin continues to question the legitimacy of the elected representatives of the Ukrainian people.
