Resuming the construction of the oncology center in Kharkiv
At the forum 'Investing in Human Capital: a roadmap for comprehensive and participatory recovery of Kharkiv region,' the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, announced plans to resume the construction of a modern oncology center that had been halted due to Russia's military aggression.'This is a very important project for our region. We need to provide comprehensive treatment for cancer patients right in Kharkiv so they don’t have to be sent for treatment in other regions,' emphasized Synegubov.According to the 'Prozorro' system, resuming the project will cost approximately 3.162 billion hryvnias. Funding will be provided from the Ukraine Facility. After launching the new building, plans are to dismantle part of the old premises and build a radiotherapy department. In 2020, the project changed, leading to the termination of the agreement with the previous contractor and the holding of a new tender. The enterprise 'Romb+' from Lviv region won the contract. After a year-long pause, in 2021, construction was resumed, including it in the 'Great Construction' program. In November 2024, Oleg Synegubov announced a project adjustment considering the security requirements under martial law, for which 43.22 million hryvnias were allocated. Thus, in Kharkiv, they plan to resume the construction of the oncology center, which will provide local residents access to quality treatment for cancer without needing to travel to other regions. The project already has funding and is part of the government program 'Great Construction,' which will help create a modern center with high-tech equipment for cancer treatment. The importance of this project cannot be overstated, as it will not only improve medical care in Kharkiv but also create new jobs and stimulate the development of the region as a whole. The implementation of the project is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for residents of the region who are battling cancer.
