Kharkiv Imposes Scheduled Power Outages for March 20: What Residents Need to Know.
Electricity Supply Challenges in Kharkiv
According to Novyny.live: Due to ongoing Russian airstrikes, Kharkiv’s energy grid faces severe strain, prompting authorities to implement hourly blackout schedules on March 20, 2023. Residential users will experience power interruptions between 08:00 and 22:00, while industrial facilities face cuts until midnight. These measures aim to manage the damaged infrastructure and prevent total system collapse.
The March 20 attacks resulted in one fatality and five injuries, with the village of Artemivka in Chuhuiv district suffering the worst destruction. Amid relentless shelling and electricity shortages, local officials have resorted to rotating outages to maintain a fragile balance in the region’s power supply.
Detailed Outage Schedule
The planned power cuts are divided into specific time slots as follows:
- Groups 1.1 and 1.2 – from 10:00 to 11:00;
- Group 2.1 – from 11:00 to 13:30 and from 20:30 to 22:00;
- Group 2.2 – from 20:30 to 22:00;
- Groups 3.1 and 3.2 – from 16:00 to 17:00;
- Group 4.1 – from 13:30 to 16:00;
- Group 4.2 – remains unaffected;
- Groups 5.1 and 5.2 – from 17:00 to 20:30;
- Groups 6.1 and 6.2 – from 08:00 to 10:00.
These steps are designed to stabilize the energy situation in the area and protect residents from further risks.
Implementing hourly power cuts in Kharkiv has become a necessary response to the deteriorating security environment driven by ongoing attacks. While these disruptions affect daily life, they are part of a broader strategy to ensure energy reliability during wartime conditions.
Local authorities continue to take measures to uphold order and safety as shelling persists, threatening both infrastructure and the civilian population.
