In the Cabinet told how many demined lands Ukrainians received.

Ukraine has achieved significant results in mine action since the beginning of the sectoral working group's work, reported Yulia Svyrydenko, co-chair of this group, the first Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

"Last autumn, when the sectoral working group started work, 174 thousand square kilometers of territories were potentially contaminated with mines and other explosive devices. We had 18 operators, about 3 thousand sappers, and 32 machines for demining. Since then, we have returned to use almost 35 thousand square kilometers of territories. To date, 56 operators have been certified, the number of sappers has increased to over 4 thousand, and 98 machines for demining are working in the fields," noted Yulia Svyrydenko.

Yulia Svyrydenko separately thanked the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, co-chair of the SWG Matsuda Kuninori, whose authority in Ukraine is soon ending.

"I want to thank Japan for its active work in the field of mine action: from participation in the development of the Mine Action Strategy to support for Ukrainian manufacturers of demining equipment. Japan's contribution to the field of mine action is over 70 million dollars and dozens of machines for demining and heavy machinery, thousands of units of equipment. This is invaluable assistance," said Yulia Svyrydenko.
