Man in Kyiv Charged $6,000 to Remove Conscripts from Wanted List.
Corruption Schemes in Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: A man in Kyiv has been accused of arranging to remove a military-liable individual from a wanted list for $6,000, promising fake employment to secure a draft deferment. He has now been formally notified of suspicion. The suspect, originally from Odesa Oblast, began processing the paperwork in October 2025, planning to complete all steps without the client's physical presence using the 'Oberih' system.
In December of that year, the conscript received a job placement document. By February, he was asked to update the 'Reserve+' app. Meanwhile, the conscript paid 36,000 hryvnias in taxes for the fictitious job, with monthly payments set at 40,000 hryvnias. The suspect's actions have been classified as receiving illegal benefits.
Investigation and Consequences
Searches at 'Kyivavtodor' took place on March 13 as part of an investigation into the procurement of horizontal road marking services for 2024-2025. Earlier this year, a theft of 4.5 million hryvnias was uncovered related to the reconstruction of Kyrylivska Street, highlighting potential systemic issues in budget management. These events raise concerns and demand further investigation to prevent similar cases in the future.
The uncovered facts point to corruption schemes within state institutions, undermining trust in the military deferment system and the use of public funds. To prevent such situations, tighter financial oversight and a thorough investigation of all identified corruption cases are necessary. Such actions could serve as a crucial step toward improving governance practices in Ukraine. This case reflects broader challenges in Ukraine's ongoing efforts to combat corruption amid wartime mobilization.
