Trolleybus sank under the asphalt in the center of Kyiv: traffic blocked.
According to ТСН: A trolleybus partially sank on Sofia Street in Kyiv, leading to a temporary halt of both trolleybus and car traffic due to road surface damage.
Incident Details
In the morning, photos and videos of the trolleybus, whose wheels sank under the asphalt, appeared in the capital's Telegram channels. The Kyiv City State Administration confirmed that traffic on this street has been stopped due to damage to the roadway.
Currently, trolleybuses are running to the "Lukyanivska" metro station and the Povitroflotskyi Overpass. Emergency services are inspecting the area of the incident and will soon begin repair work, involving heavy machinery.
The patrol police are controlling the organization of road traffic and safety at the scene.
No casualties
According to information, no one was injured during the incident. Transport workers are trying to pull the trolleybus out of the pit and determine the reasons for the formation of the hole, as well as identify which municipal service is responsible for it.
It should be noted that in December, at the intersection of Pochaiynynska and Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska streets in Kyiv, a water pipeline sinkhole occurred measuring 4×4 meters and approximately 2 meters deep, causing significant traffic jams in Podil due to the blockage of one lane.
This incident has raised concerns about the state of Kyiv's road infrastructure. City authorities have already planned inspections of other areas to avoid similar situations in the future. Such problems indicate the need for comprehensive work on the repair and modernization of communications in the capital.
