The Podilsky Bridge in Kyiv will open, but not for all drivers.
From now on, starting December 1, the Podilsky Bridge will be available for use by city public transport and passenger cars. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The Kyiv Defense Council supported this decision. 'Starting December 1, the movement of passenger cars and city public transport will be allowed on the Podilsky bridge crossing over the Dnipro River,' Klitschko said.
Klitschko also noted that passage will be available through the newly built tunnel, which connects the bridge crossing with the exit to Petro Vershygora Street towards Roman Shukhevych Avenue and the Troieshchyna residential area. However, the Podilsky bridge crossing will remain closed to heavy freight transport. Currently, special transport and the passenger bus route 111 are the only permitted vehicles that can use the bridge.
'Works on landscaping and arranging the adjacent area near the new tunnel will be completed by the end of the year, without interrupting the flow of transport,' Klitschko clarified.
Earlier, it was reported that security would be strengthened at the bridge in Kyiv and additional checkpoints would be established.
