Putin Ready for Dialogue with Macron: What is Known About Possible Negotiations.
According to ТСН: The Kremlin states that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is ready for a "dialogue" with French President Emmanuel Macron.
This was stated by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov. In response to a question about the possibility of negotiations between the two leaders, Peskov noted that the Kremlin is allegedly ready for such a dialogue.
"He (Putin - ed.) also expressed his readiness to conduct a dialogue with Macron. So if there is mutual political will, it can only be viewed positively," Peskov said.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that Europe could resume direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin if the peace efforts initiated by the United States to end the war in Ukraine are unsuccessful.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also noted that Macron had raised the issue of possible further actions if the U.S. cannot "stop Russia".
These statements indicate attempts to find ways for dialogue amid the ongoing tension between Russia and the West. The strategy of France and Ukraine seems to lean towards the idea that direct negotiations could be one of the options in case other peace initiatives fail. Time will show whether the parties will be able to find common ground and whether this will be beneficial for the stabilization of the region.
