In Lutsk, in the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the OCU, portraits of well-known local businessmen appeared. The images were painted on the walls of the cathedral. According to the information, Metropolitan Mykhailo expressed his blessing for their creation. This was reported by the local publication misto.media.

Among the images are noticeable portraits of the famous developer Viktor Chornukha, the owner of the agricultural enterprise "Viliia" Yevhen Dudka, and the leader of the "For the Future" party Ihor Palytsia.

The iconographer of the cathedral, Deacon Yurii Hetmanchuk, said that the first images were created six months ago, but due to disputes, they were replaced. Metropolitan of Lutsk and Volyn Mykhailo gave his blessing for the creation of the murals. In total, it is planned to depict 12 people.

This caused outrage among the townspeople on social media. The mayor of the city, Ihor Polishchuk, stated that there are more appropriate ways to thank patrons for supporting the church, other than depicting them on frescoes.

Upon discovering his image on the walls of the church, Ihor Palytsia immediately demanded its removal, as this, according to his beliefs, violates God's commandments. The fresco was painted over the next day.

Earlier, the cathedral's caretaker explained why his parishioners refused to pray in Ukrainian.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to ban the activities of the Moscow Church. According to him, they passed a law concerning the "spiritual independence of Ukraine".

According to the adopted law, the activities of religious organizations that have a governing center in a state aggressively acting against Ukraine are prohibited. This category includes the Moscow Church, operating in Ukraine under the brand UOC MP.
