According to Novyny.live: In February 2026, the 'Smile UA' Charitable Foundation will begin accepting registrations for financial and social assistance programs aimed at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). This initiative is designed to support vulnerable population groups, including citizens with disabilities, pensioners, and individuals suffering from serious illnesses.

Eligibility Criteria for Assistance

Assistance is available to internally displaced persons in need of support. Specifically, aid may be provided to:

  • Persons with disabilities;
  • The elderly;
  • Individuals with chronic illnesses who lack access to basic services, medical, social, or legal support.

The program also targets those residing in temporary shelters or requiring individual case management. Support is particularly crucial for individuals who evacuated or relocated to a new community in 2025–2026 and are in the process of adapting to their new circumstances.

The project, titled 'Dignity and Care: Comprehensive Protection Services for Vulnerable Evacuees,' is being implemented in the Polohy district of the Zaporizhzhia region. Services under this project are provided to adult IDPs who have reached the age of 18. The support package includes:

  • Cash assistance to cover critical needs;
  • Individual social case management;
  • Protection needs and risk assessments;
  • Psychosocial support;
  • Legal aid concerning documentation, social benefits, and housing issues;
  • Informational support regarding community services and referrals to appropriate providers based on individual needs.

The project is supported by the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (HFU), underscoring its importance and relevance in the current context. Registration for aid from the 'Smile UA' Charitable Foundation will be a vital step for many people requiring urgent support and protection during this difficult period. This aid is part of a broader international effort to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

This initiative forms part of a wider program supporting internally displaced persons in Ukraine, which seeks to address issues of social justice and access to basic resources for vulnerable groups. The experiences of the pandemic and military conflicts have demonstrated that such programs are critically important for assisting people in unstable conditions, helping them find stability in new circumstances. A key component is psychosocial support, which aids in the emotional recovery of those who have endured hardship.
