Will a language patrol work in Lviv? Sadovyi's response.
Lviv does not need language patrols, - Sadovyi
The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, expressed his opinion on language patrols in the city. According to him, Lviv is the most Ukrainian-speaking city and there is no need to introduce such patrols. He noted that the city is already conducting explanatory work on the language, collaborating with the language ombudsman and other ombudsmen. Sadovyi emphasized that Lviv's strength lies in changing people with love and making them allies.
This statement by Sadovyi was made in response to the initiative of the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk regarding language patrols. Mayor Ruslan Marcinkiv stated that Ivano-Frankivsk will also introduce language inspectors to combat the spread of the Russian language.
On the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, a petition appeared regarding the dismissal of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Taras Kremin, and the creation of a language police. Earlier, language activist Larysa Nitsoi pointed out three main reasons for the worsening use of the Ukrainian language in schools: the absence of an idea from the authorities, mistakes made in legislation, and insufficient attention to this issue.
