In Kyiv, it was decided not to build a new metro station that was previously planned. This information was shared in the program 'History of Metro Stations' on 'You Kyiv'.

Where was the new station supposed to appear?

A new station was planned to be built on the red metro line, between the stations 'Zhytomyrska' and 'Sviatoshyn'. It was to be called 'Prospekt Vernadskogo', but remained only on paper.

However, sketches of this station can still be seen in the metro archive.

It should be noted that the red metro line in Kyiv was the first to start operating. Currently, it has 18 stations and runs for more than 20 kilometers.

Among the stations on this line are 'Akademmistechko', 'Zhytomyrska', 'Sviatoshyn', 'Nyvky', 'Beresteiska', 'Shuliavska', 'Politechnichnyi Instytut', 'Vokzalna', 'Universytet', 'Teatralna', 'Kreshchatyk', 'Arsenalna', 'Dnipro', 'Hydropark', 'Livoberezhna', 'Darnytsia', 'Chernihivska', and 'Lisova'.

It was recently announced that the Kyiv Metro has incurred the largest losses among all Ukrainian cities.

Local residents also expressed a desire for the development of the metro and the construction of new stations in the capital.

The Kyiv Metro has refused to build a new station that was to appear on the red line of the metro between the stations 'Zhytomyrska' and 'Sviatoshyn'. Despite this, sketches of this station can still be seen in the metro archive. At the same time, Kyiv residents express their wishes for further development of the metro and expansion of the network of stations for the convenience of the city's inhabitants.
