Polish Activists Launch Campaign to Raise 500,000 Zloty to Buy Buses for Vinnytsia.
Fundraising Drive for Vinnytsia Buses
According to Espreso.tv: Activists have kicked off a campaign to collect 500,000 zloty to purchase 15 used buses from the city of Kielce, with the goal of sending them to residents of Vinnytsia. The initiative follows a political controversy that led Vinnytsia Mayor Serhiy Morhunov to withdraw his original request for the vehicles.
Kielce Mayor Agata Wojda supported the transfer of the buses, but some local councilors opposed the decision. Notably, the Law and Justice party faction submitted a resolution to council chair Maciej Jakubczyk, demanding that Stepan Bandera Street be renamed.
Fundraising Campaign
The nonprofit Fundacja Sikorki na Ukrainie, which is managing the collection, has announced the start of a campaign to raise half a million zloty for the project. Activists hope the funds will help provide transportation for Vinnytsia residents in need of support.
This effort showcases public engagement and a willingness to assist Ukraine, particularly Vinnytsia, which faces challenges amid the war. The political disagreements in Kielce also highlight the complexity of relations between the cities as they seek common ground on humanitarian aid.
The fundraising could mark an important step not only in addressing Vinnytsia's transport issues but also in strengthening ties between Poland and Ukraine during this difficult period.
