New Utility Assistance Initiative in Poltava

According to Novyny.live: In March 2026, the charity organization Caritas launched a program in Poltava to help cover housing and utility costs, funded by the United States. This effort targets vulnerable groups struggling amid Ukraine’s ongoing social and economic challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

Payments are available for:

  • People with disabilities
  • Senior citizens
  • Single parents
  • Legal guardians
  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals with serious illnesses
  • Large families

Applicants must submit a set of documents for registration, including a Ukrainian passport, tax identification number, internally displaced person (IDP) certificate, IBAN bank account details, and other proof of vulnerability.

Importantly, households that have already received similar aid from other organizations are not eligible. The same applies if IDP status was obtained before 2025, or if monthly income exceeds 8,422 hryvnias per person. The average monthly income per individual must not surpass 10,380 hryvnias.

Payments amount to 2,000 hryvnias for adults and 3,000 hryvnias for children and people with disabilities. Displaced persons must complete an identification procedure by July 1, 2026, or risk losing their benefits. For more details, call 0 800 336 734.

This program is part of broader efforts to support Ukrainians during difficult times. In 2026, grants of up to $5,000 are also available from the Danish Refugee Council, and the German government will provide cash assistance of up to $1,700. Caritas' initiative thus becomes a key pillar of social support for vulnerable groups in Ukraine.

The introduction of utility payment assistance in Poltava marks an important step in backing vulnerable populations facing severe hardships. Amid Ukraine’s ongoing economic strain, such an initiative can significantly ease the financial burden on families in need.
