Russia demands Ukraine's renunciation of NATO: what the peace plan entails.
According to ТСН: The Russian Federation continues to insist that the placement of European troops in Ukraine is 'impossible.' This position was expressed by the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
This statement came amid discussions of the peace plan, in which the USA is involved. According to Zakharova, Ukraine's membership in NATO is unacceptable for Russia, and the Alliance is accused of attempting to integrate Ukraine into its structures, which allegedly poses a threat to the Russian Federation.
Statements from Russian officials
Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Alexander Grushko, also noted that any presence of Western troops in Ukraine will be 'absolutely excluded.'
The peace plan and its demands
It should be noted that the 28-point 'peace plan,' which was adopted by the USA and Russia, contains a requirement to prohibit Ukraine's accession to NATO, as well as insists that no Western troops remain on Ukrainian territory after peace is concluded. Experts believe that this document effectively forces Ukraine to capitulate, as it entails 'draconian measures' that would give Moscow 'unprecedented control' over the military and political sovereignty of the country.
According to information from CNN, the USA and Ukraine have not agreed on three key points of the 'peace plan,' which concern territorial concessions, restrictions on the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and renunciation of ambitions regarding NATO membership. The last point is unacceptable for Kyiv, as it creates a 'bad precedent,' essentially granting Russia veto power over the Alliance's decisions, of which it is not a member.
Thus, the issues of troop placement and signing the peace plan remain at the center of international relations, and Russia's position continues to complicate the peace process in Ukraine. It will be important to observe how these discussions affect future negotiations and the security situation in the region.
