On August 22, a horrific event occurred in Charlotte, North Carolina. A Ukrainian woman, Iryna Zarutska, who was seeking asylum abroad, was killed on a train. The suspect in the murder, 34-year-old Dekarlos Brown Jr., was arrested.Surveillance footage shows how everything happened in the Lynx Blue Line light rail car. Iryna entered the train at 9:46 PM and sat down in front of the suspect. A few minutes later, he suddenly attacked her with a knife, leading to tragedy."After the attack, Brown exited the train at the next stop. Passengers, noticing the blood, immediately began to help the victim,"witnesses recall.The arrested Brown was taken into custody. He sustained an injury to his arm during the attack and, after receiving medical assistance, was charged with first-degree murder.It is worth noting that the deceased Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roschyna, who fell victim to captivity in Russia, was posthumously awarded the American award for bravery - the Oxi Courage Award. This award is given to those who demonstrate courage and determination in today's world, honoring people who show bravery under difficult circumstances.This tragedy has shocked the Ukrainian community in the USA and drew attention to the issue of immigrant safety. The case of Iryna Zarutska reminds us of the importance of raising awareness about violence in society and protecting vulnerable groups.
