A Congresswoman Disappeared in the US. Musk Intervened in the Story.
Republican Congresswoman Kay Granger Has Disappeared
81-year-old Kay Granger, a Republican congresswoman, has unexpectedly disappeared in the United States. She has not appeared at work since mid-July and has ignored calls and messages from colleagues. This was reported by Dallas Express.
Kay Granger was elected to the House of Representatives from Texas in 1997 and has served her duties for many years. In 2023, she announced that she would not run in the next elections and was defeated by Craig Goldman. However, until January 3, the congresswoman continued to fulfill her duties, disregarding them.
Journalist Carlos Turcios made great efforts to uncover the reason for Granger's disappearance, but the results were unsuccessful. It turned out that she is in a nursing home in Fort Worth, where individuals suffering from dementia and memory loss are assisted. She ended up there after being found on the street. The elderly woman was unaware of her whereabouts.
The cost of care in the nursing home is $4,000 per month, and Kay Granger continued to receive her salary during this time. Due to her disappearance, two million residents of the district were left without a representative.
This story caught the attention of Elon Musk, the famous entrepreneur, who proposed introducing mandatory mental competency exams for politicians. He believes this is a necessary step. Musk hopes that he, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead a new agency to enhance government effectiveness.
By the way, earlier the US Department of the Treasury reported that the American budget deficit for the fiscal year 2024 will be $1.83 trillion, which is $138 billion more than the previous year. Additionally, only 1% of public servants in the US work all five days a week.
