The Government of Turkmenistan Obliged Artists to Lose Weight: What Threatens Those Who Do Not Comply.
According to inkorr.com: The Government of Turkmenistan has issued a decree requiring artists with excess weight to lose weight by Independence Day.
This initiative was voiced by the Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
“Cultural workers with excess weight were ordered to lose weight, threatening them with job loss,” reported an actor.
Representatives of the cultural sphere claim that due to low salaries, they find it difficult to afford quality food and regular training.
The country is currently observing the Month of Health and Happiness, but one of the popular weight loss drugs has serious side effects.
Despite the risk of vision loss, the drug Ozempic has its supporters among those trying to lose weight.
This situation raises questions about the working and living conditions of artists in Turkmenistan, as well as questioning the ethics of such demands. On the one hand, government initiatives aim to promote a healthy lifestyle, while on the other, there is a risk to people's physical and psychological well-being. Accordingly, the introduction of such decrees may provoke an ambiguous reaction in society.
