Syrskyi on the Ukrainian Armed Forces: Main Reason and Solutions to the Problem.
Military Training Process
According to ТСН: In the army, everything happens differently, and the main focus should be on the training process, in particular, on creating the proper conditions for living and learning.
Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated this, emphasizing that the nationwide problem related to self-harm in the army requires a comprehensive approach.
“Not only the military should work, but also the heads of regional and district administrations. They should prepare people primarily morally for the defense of their state, so that they come to the ranks of the army with an understanding that they are fulfilling their civic duty — to defend the state, the land, the people, the language — everything that has value for us,” said the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Syrskyi also acknowledged that the military must ensure a comfortable and painless transition for people from civilian life to military life. He stressed that many cases of self-harm occur precisely in training centers.
“This transition is especially important in the first stage when everything is new for a person and there is a reformatting from one way of life to another — military. Everything is different in this life, everything is harsh,” noted the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces.
Therefore, he called for a focus on the training process at the training grounds, creating appropriate conditions for living and conducting classes.
“Because when the instructor teaches, and the one who is supposed to learn does not want to acquire knowledge, the result will be 100% negative. But there must be an understanding that from this, the person must gain everything that the instructor knows. Because this may save their life and help them kill as many enemies as possible,” Syrskyi concluded.
Earlier, the Third Army Corps indicated the reasons for self-harm that are often ignored. It also became known that data on the number of self-harm incidents and desertion in Ukraine has been classified.
These comments from Oleksandr Syrskyi highlight the importance of military training and the moral preparation of residents for service in the army. Implementing effective measures in training centers can significantly reduce the number of incidents and improve the combat readiness of the Ukrainian armed forces. This issue remains relevant amidst ongoing security challenges for the country.
