Vinnytsia has started installing information plaques 'Street Code'

The streets of Vinnytsia have been enriched with new information plaques from the 'Street Code' initiative, which was proposed by the public organization 'Historical Platform' and has already been successfully implemented in Kyiv. Thanks to these plaques, Vinnytsia residents and city guests will be able to learn interesting facts about the figures depicted on the plaques using a QR code that will open an online platform with additional information.

Each plaque contains a portrait of a prominent figure, a brief description of their achievements, and a QR code. This will allow anyone with a smartphone to learn more about the history of these figures, their contributions to the development of Ukraine, Vinnytsia, and the city itself. Such plaques will help the residents of Vinnytsia feel a connection to their city and understand the origins of street names. For tourists, these plaques will serve as an interesting guide to the city, providing more engaging walks through Vinnytsia.

The director of the Vinnytsia Museum, Oleksandr Fedorishen, emphasized that this way of presenting historical materials contributes to spreading interest in historical figures. It is planned to install about 30 such plaques by the end of this year, and overall, the city plans to install 80 'Street Code' plaques.

It is also worth noting that, in addition to the text version, the information on the plaques will also be available in the format of an audio guide, which will provide barrier-free access for people with disabilities.
