Vinnytsia chemistry genius sentenced to 9 years for drug laboratory: details of the case.
Verdict for the drug dealer in Vinnytsia
According to inkorr.com: The court in Vinnytsia made a decision regarding a 27-year-old man who organized a drug laboratory in his home. A former winner of chemistry Olympiads was involved in the production and sale of drugs through Telegram, earning over 500 thousand hryvnias per month.
Discovery of the laboratory
In March 2025, the police discovered a laboratory that contained large supplies of drugs and chemicals. The man had a chemical-technical education and gained popularity due to his participation in chemistry Olympiads. Admitting his guilt, he expressed a desire to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was the basis for a reduced sentence.
In court, the man acknowledged his guilt and expressed a desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The court accepted his remorse and intention to serve in the military as mitigating circumstances.
Punishment and dismantling of the group
The convicted man was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment with property confiscation. In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine dismantled a drug group in Kyiv region, led by a former chemistry teacher who also produced drugs.
A school graduate who created this drug laboratory used his knowledge of chemistry to refine criminal schemes. His accomplice, also an educator, was detained.
This case highlights how knowledge and skills can be used for illegal purposes. However, the court took into account the defendant's willingness to serve the state, which may indicate the complexity of the drug crime situation in Ukraine.
