Arrest in Zaporizhzhia: Man Disguised to Avoid Draft

According to TSN.ua: A 49-year-old man was taken into custody in Zaporizhzhia after attempting to dodge military mobilization by dressing in women’s attire and wearing a wig. The arrest occurred during an investigation, as the individual was already wanted for violating mobilization laws. Police responded quickly to the tip-off, apprehended him, and then transported him to the joint district military enlistment office and social support center in Zaporizhzhia.

The incident quickly sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms. Public outrage followed the detention of a man trying to sidestep mandatory service, highlighting societal tensions surrounding the draft.

Other Attempts to Evade Mobilization

Separately, at the border with Moldova, another evasion attempt was thwarted. A female driver tried to smuggle a 30-year-old man across by disguising him as an elderly grandmother. These cases underscore how mobilization remains a highly contentious issue in Ukraine, demanding continued oversight from law enforcement agencies.

Ongoing conflict and mobilization efforts in Ukraine have driven many citizens to seek creative ways to avoid military service—a trend that raises alarm among the public. Authorities and police are ramping up measures to prevent such incidents, as the matter touches on both legal compliance and the moral duty of civic responsibility.

Such events may fuel broader debates about the need to reform the mobilization system and strengthen social support for soldiers and their families.
