A deep sinkhole has formed in Zhytomyr: trolleybus services changed.
According to inkorr.com: A large sinkhole has formed on Feshchenka-Chopivskyi Street in Zhytomyr, resulting in temporary transport restrictions and changes to public transport routes. This was
reportedby the Zhytomyr City Council.
According to official information, the collapse occurred near house №5 on the section of communication networks. The area is currently fenced off, and traffic is closed from the intersection of Feshchenka-Chopivskyi and Old Boulevard streets to the water tower.
Trolleybus services suspended on October 26
Due to damage to underground networks,
trolleybus servicesin both directions have been temporarily halted.
The changes in transport movement are as follows:
Routes №4A and №15A are currently operating on Velyka Berdychiivska Street;
the section around the sinkhole is completely closed to traffic;
drivers and pedestrians are urged to be cautious and avoid the danger zone.
Specialists from municipal services are working at the scene, checking the soil and communications to assess the extent of the damage and the timeframe for eliminating the consequences. According to preliminary data, the sinkhole may have occurred due to soil washing after rains or the wear and tear of underground pipes.
When will trolleybus services resume in Zhytomyr
Local authorities assure that movement will be restored immediately after the completion of repair work and the safety assessment of the road surface.
