According to TSN.ua: On the evening of March 9, the Russian military launched a combat drone strike on Kharkiv's Industrial District. This attack comes amidst a wider escalation of strikes on Ukrainian cities. At least six people were wounded in the incident, including a 16-year-old girl, with the total number of casualties still being confirmed.
Emergency medical services were provided at the scene to:
- A 41-year-old woman
- A 36-year-old man
- A 51-year-old man, who was hospitalized with blast injuries
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov stated: 'A strike by an enemy combat drone has been recorded in the Industrial District near residential apartment blocks. Details are being clarified. There are already five victims.'
The assault also damaged seven vehicles, two of which were completely burned out. This latest strike follows a tragic series of events on the night of March 7, which resulted in the deaths of eighth-grader Yelyzaveta Polianska, her mother, and grandmother. That same night, a teacher and a child were also killed, and a missile strike destroyed a section of an apartment building from the first to the fifth floor.
According to Governor Oleh Syniehubov, 'A 16-year-old girl, a 41-year-old woman, and a 36-year-old man are receiving medical aid on site.'
The situation in Kharkiv remains tense, with local authorities continuing to work on verifying the details of the casualties and the circumstances of the attack.
This drone strike represents a continuation of escalating violence in the region stemming from the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The incident underscores the severe danger faced by civilians and highlights the critical need for protecting populations in active combat zones.
