The number of injured after the Russian airstrike in the Sumy region has increased

In the Sumy region, the number of injured after the Russian airstrike on a five-story building in the settlement of Swesa has increased. Among the injured are two children. As of 10:30 PM, the rescuers have completed the emergency rescue operations at the site of the airstrike. This is reported by the State Emergency Service (DSNS) and the military administration of the Sumy region.

The rescuers report that they have evacuated 14 people and rescued a grandmother. The injured are receiving medical assistance in the healthcare facilities of the region.

According to the authorities, 15 apartments were destroyed in the building and about 700 windows were damaged.

A headquarters has been established at the site of the tragedy to mitigate the consequences of the attack. The accommodation of those affected is being considered. As of 7:30 PM, debris clearance is still ongoing.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also reacted to the incident.

“Currently, rescue operations are underway in Swesa – in the settlement in the Sumy region – following the attack of Russian bombs. The hit struck the building. The entrance is destroyed – apartments from the first to the fifth floor. Nearby houses are also damaged. Another Russian strike against the lives of ordinary Ukrainian families. Seven people are injured, including a child, a girl – she is two years old. She is now in the hospital. All the injured are receiving necessary assistance,” he said in his evening address.

It is reminded that the Russian military conducted an airstrike on the Swesa community in the Shostka district.

Earlier, the attack on the Shostka community in Sumy damaged 12 multi-family houses. Additionally, two educational institutions and other social facilities were affected.

Moreover, Sumy and other settlements in the region experienced massive attacks by Russian occupiers on December 26. Hostile shelling caused fires and destruction in various cities, with reports of one casualty.

Enemy propaganda will try to present the desired as reality

It should be noted that enemy propaganda is once again trying to present the desired as reality by speaking of a “breakthrough across the border in the Sumy region and the capture of a border village.” In reality, this was an attempt by an enemy diversion and reconnaissance group to cross the Ukrainian border, which the operators of the special operations forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces prevented on December 10. This was reported on the official channel of the special operations forces of Ukraine.

The surviving enemy soldiers were forced to flee to the Russian side of the border. But the SSO operators caught up with them and eliminated them. The entire operation can be seen in the video.

Furthermore, the information that the Russian forces managed to penetrate into the Ukrainian territorial direction of the village of Oleksandriya in the Sumy region is not true. This was reported by the military administration of the Sumy region. According to the press service, the information about the border crossing spread in the media is enemy disinformation. Additionally, the spokesperson for the State Border Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko stated in a broadcast on the TV channel “Kyiv” that the area allegedly penetrated by the occupiers is swampy. Therefore, it is quite difficult for both Ukrainian defenders and Russians, if they advance there, to hold positions.
