Night attack on Odesa: six injured and destruction in the city center.
According to ТСН: Six people were injured as a result of the night attack by Russian troops on Odesa. The occupiers struck at civilian targets in two waves, causing destruction to kindergartens, medical facilities, residential buildings, and even the waterfront. After the end of the air raid signal, utility services and rescuers immediately took to addressing the aftermath.
This night attack and the true unity of Odesa residents are reported by our correspondent.
Strike on Lanzheron and Shevchenko Park
“We are now on the coastline, where explosions were heard at night. Here on Lanzheron beach, an enemy Shahed flew into the sand and detonated,” reported Serhiy Osadchuk.
The shockwave partially destroyed structures on the beach, and restaurants and cafés that were operating during the summer season were also affected. Even the entertainment complex in Shevchenko Park was damaged.
Hell in the city center: three 'Shaheds' in one quarter
The most significant destruction occurred in a residential area in downtown Odesa. There, three 'Shaheds' exploded in a square covering several hundred square meters. As a result of the attack, six people were injured, two of whom are women and are currently in the hospital.
The situation is most serious for a 48-year-old resident of the building adjacent to the epicenter of the explosion. She was diagnosed with limb fractures and underwent surgery in the morning.
The State Emergency Service reported that they received a dozen and a half calls to psychologists who were working directly at the attack sites.
Marina Averina, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service in Odesa region: “People were in very different emotional states; many of them were leaving high-rise buildings where their windows had been blown out and needed help, which was provided by our psychologists.”
“If we hadn’t woken up — we would have been cut by glass”
With the dawn, the extent of the destruction became evident. Residents of the affected quarter recount their experiences in horror.
Liliya, a local resident: “It was very scary; the first explosion, then the second, third — it blew out all the windows. If we hadn’t woken up beforehand, we would have been caught in all these waves and cut by glass.”
Polina, a local resident: “I didn’t manage to run to the shelter; I ran out into the corridor as the glass was already flying. You see: the doors, everything! It’s good that the entrance door opened, and a staff member who lives upstairs also came to help me.”
Unity in the face of ruins
In such moments, Odesa demonstrates true strength — unity. People who were less impacted immediately began to help their neighbors whose homes suffered serious destruction. The correspondent notes that he saw at least three completely destroyed apartments where residents were working together.
Many utility workers are on-site. Their main task is to cover windows with film, as the temperature in Odesa dropped to minus seven degrees during the night.
Heavy equipment quickly cleared the roads of debris, restoring traffic by morning.
Street cleaners removed tons of shattered glass from the area.
An operational headquarters has been set up where people can warm up, receive help, and file claims for compensation for damaged property.
