In Kharkiv, a local resident received a sentence from the local district court after he struck a police officer during a document check in the metro. The man was wanted as a conscript who needed to be notified.
The incident occurred at the 'Yaroslav the Wise' metro station on May 29, 2025. The police officer stopped the man for a check because he was being sought as a conscript who had evaded registration. The man responded with a blow to the officer's head, causing him minor bodily harm.
Court ruling
The court found the man guilty of intentionally causing minor bodily harm to a law enforcement officer. The defendant admitted his guilt, had no prior convictions, and underwent a risk assessment. The court sentenced him to three years of imprisonment but refrained from serving the sentence under probation. The man must comply with a number of obligations for three years, including a ban on leaving the country without permission and participating in a 'life skills development' program. The verdict can be appealed within 30 days.
