Ukraine's Cooperation with Middle Eastern Nations

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine is prepared to share its hard-won expertise in countering Iranian drones in return for missiles for its Patriot air defense systems. This offer comes in response to requests from Middle Eastern countries that have sought Ukraine's expert assistance following attacks by Iranian drones, including the 'Shahed' models, which have damaged civilian infrastructure.

Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's openness to such cooperation.

"We have received signals from our partners in the Middle East. There have been strikes by Iranian 'Shahed' drones on civilian targets in these countries. They want our expertise. We are open. If their representatives come, we will provide that expertise,"
the President noted.

However, he pointed out that Ukraine itself is suffering from a critical shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles.

"Regarding weapons: we ourselves are at war. And I said absolutely frankly: we have a shortage of what they have. They have Patriot missiles, but they won't shoot down hundreds or thousands of 'Shaheds' with Patriot missiles: that is too costly,"
Zelenskyy added, highlighting the need for a more sustainable and cost-effective defense strategy.

Engaging the International Community

Furthermore, on March 1, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the involvement of Ukrainian specialists to assist allies in the Persian Gulf. This demonstrates the growing international interest in Ukraine's proven experience in countering drone threats, which have become a global security concern.

"Therefore, when it comes to the exchange of technology, the exchange of weapons, I think our country will be open to this,"
underscored the Ukrainian President.

Thus, Ukraine is ready to provide expert support to nations facing attacks from Iranian drones in exchange for the vital missiles required to strengthen its own air defenses. This initiative reflects a strategic approach by Kyiv to international security cooperation, particularly amid its ongoing war with Russia. Engaging Middle Eastern countries in an exchange of experience and technology could not only bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities but also foster new regional alliances. It also underscores the critical importance of international support in ensuring security and stability against modern asymmetric threats.
