Ukraine Targets Drone Exports to Gulf States: Deals Already in Place.
Ukraine's Push to Export Unmanned Technologies
According to TSN.ua: As the war with Russia continues, Ukraine is expanding its export of unmanned technologies, particularly to Gulf nations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where framework cooperation agreements were signed. Ukrainian companies are showing strong interest in exporting drones, driven by rising demand for such technologies across the Middle East.
The United Arab Emirates is also expected to sign a similar agreement with Ukraine, signaling broader collaboration in this sector. The estimated value of arms that Ukraine could export this year stands at $2 billion. Under an optimistic scenario, the potential annual export volume over the next five years could reach $10 billion. These figures highlight the growing international relevance and promise of Ukrainian defense technologies.
Growth Prospects Ahead
In January alone, Ukraine produced 40,000 interceptors, and with sufficient funding, it could scale up to 2,000 units per day. Zelenskyy noted:
“Ukraine is sharing experience that doesn’t exist in the Middle East.”This remark underscores the uniqueness and competitiveness of Ukrainian innovations.
Meanwhile, Oleh Rohynskyi observed:
“Everyone is sitting and waiting,”pointing to a need for more decisive action in this field. Anastasiia Mishkina warned: “There is a risk of missing the window, because the international market won’t wait,” further stressing the urgency of scaling up drone exports.
The industry is poised for new opportunities, as maritime drones and interceptors could play a key role in enhancing security not only for Ukraine but also for partner nations. Progress in this area could significantly reshape the regional dynamics, opening fresh avenues for cooperation and technological advancement.
Expanding Ukraine's unmanned technology exports could substantially alter the balance of power in the region, especially amid ongoing military conflicts. The growing demand for drones in Gulf countries shows that Ukrainian technologies are increasingly sought after, which could bring both financial gains for Ukraine and stronger strategic partnerships. In the context of the war with Russia, such initiatives may become a crucial factor in bolstering national security and improving the country's defense capabilities.
