Ukraine cannot equip even 4 out of 14 necessary brigades – Zelensky.
President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that due to limited weapons supplies, Ukraine cannot equip even 4 out of the 14 brigades that need to be prepared. He stated this in an interview with CNN.
"Firstly, everything is happening very slowly (partner assistance deliveries, – ed.). Secondly, we need to prepare 14 brigades. So far, we don't have this, and out of this package of brigades, we haven't even equipped 4," noted the president.
Zelensky pointed out that during the pre-election pause, which preceded the positive decision of the US Congress to provide assistance to Ukraine, all possible reserves were used.
"We used everything we could. We gave everything we had in reserves, in warehouses, or in reserve brigades that we now need. We took all the weapons they had," he said.
Recall, US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby stated that the US does not plan to change its position regarding Ukraine's use of long-range weapons against Russian territory.
Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin explained why the US does not permit deep strikes on Russian territory. Austin noted that no single weapon can decide the course of the war, so assistance should be provided to Ukraine to enable it to successfully defend its territory.
In particular, the US may allow Ukraine to use British and French long-range missiles for strikes on Russian territory, but its own American weapons do not fall under this permission.
It is also worth noting that the Kremlin may carry out more hybrid attacks on NATO countries in response to the US and Europe's permission to strike Russian territory with long-range weapons.
