According to ЦТС — Транспорт: At the Ukraine Recovery Conference, agreements were signed with the European Investment Bank to finance projects in infrastructure, transport, energy, and digital connectivity. The deals allocate €120 million specifically for border infrastructure, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s foundational infrastructure.

Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Alona Shkrum, commented:

'It’s good that Gdańsk wasn’t canceled.'

This reflects a positive outlook on Ukraine’s engagement in international initiatives aimed at recovery and growth. The EIB agreement includes a financial package (Tranche B) worth €96 million under the 'Road Network Improvement' project. Additionally, a €50.05 million grant is allocated for the 'Transport Connectivity in Ukraine – Phases I, II, and III' project.

Future Plans

A new agreement to develop border crossing points is scheduled for implementation between 2027 and 2029. The first tranche of this deal will amount to €60 million, underscoring the EIB’s serious commitment. These initiatives also prioritize safety and connectivity, which are critical for the country given current challenges.

Victor Dovhan expressed that:

'there weren’t particularly high expectations for this event from the start,'

yet the importance of funding for infrastructure development remains undeniable. Yulia Sirko added, 'the real hope lies in negotiations between businesses and private investors,' highlighting the need to attract private capital to bring these projects to life.

Overall, the conference marked a pivotal moment in securing investments for Ukraine’s reconstruction, including projects for building transport interchanges and overhauling roads. These efforts will improve infrastructure and provide a solid foundation for the country’s future growth.
