Ukraine asks NATO countries to urgently provide 20 air defense systems.
Ukraine has appealed to NATO for 20 air defense systems to protect against Russian attacks. This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha ahead of a NATO ministerial meeting.
According to 'European Truth', the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry plans to discuss with Western partners the situation in the energy sector following the recent missile strike by the Russian Federation and the possibilities for strengthening air defense.
'We have already informed our partners of our urgent needs and are grateful for their prompt response. We are talking about the urgent provision of at least 20 additional systems – Hawk, NASAMS, IRIS-T – which will help us avoid blackout. We understand that Russia wants to deprive us of the ability to produce electricity. Therefore, greater support and greater solidarity are needed,' emphasized Sybiha.
Recently, Canada confirmed that the NASAMS system it ordered from the USA has already been delivered to Ukraine. Additionally, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced during his visit to Kyiv the delivery of the sixth IRIS-T system, Patriot launchers, and Gepard anti-aircraft tanks in December.
