Ukraine and Denmark launched a $375 million recovery program: what will be restored first

According to inkorr.com: Recently, Ukraine and Denmark launched a new program called the Ukraine Transition Program, which will run from 2025 to 2028 and will have a budget of 2.8 billion Danish kroner (375 million USD). This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

Main goals of the program

According to the agency's information, the program aims to restore critical infrastructure, provide humanitarian aid, support veterans and internally displaced persons, develop businesses, and promote a green transition in the energy and transport sectors. In addition, the continuation of reforms is planned.

'We already have positive experience of cooperation with Denmark in Mykolaiv. Today this format is moving to the national level. And I am sure that in the next three years millions of Ukrainians will see tangible results—from stable water and heat supply to new opportunities for community development,' said Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine's recovery, Minister of Community and Territorial Development.

Funding

Approximately 60% of the total budget will be invested in Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region. In March 2023, a memorandum of partnership was signed between Denmark and Mykolaiv region. Since then, the Danish side has assisted in restoring the water supply system, modernizing heating and energy, and collaborating with communities and local authorities. Now these efforts are becoming systematic and long-term.

The remaining 40% of the funding will be directed to aid regions of Ukraine that have been affected by the war. This includes restoring hospitals and schools, upgrading energy networks and water supply, as well as supporting IDPs in communities across the country. The program also includes the development of democratic institutions, transparency and accountability of power, and active participation of civil society.

The launch of the Ukraine Transition Program aims to improve living conditions for millions of Ukrainians and support the overall development of the country, particularly in such important areas as humanitarian aid and infrastructure restoration. This project will undoubtedly be an important step towards restoring and modernizing Ukraine.
