Ukraine Cripples Russian Air Defenses: S-400 Systems Slashed by a Third.
Russian Air Defense Systems Take a Hit
According to Novyny.live: Over the past six months, Ukraine’s defense and security forces have reduced the number of Russian S-400 air defense systems by 25 to 30 percent. This was reported by Ihor Fedirko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Arms Council. According to him, these efforts are part of a targeted campaign to weaken the enemy’s capabilities in the skies.
We are systematically dismantling their air defense systems. This is opening up gaps and opportunities for our missiles and deep strikes. I am convinced that if this continues—and we are already seeing it—the number of S-400 systems alone has dropped significantly over the last half-year.

Ukraine Ramps Up Its Efforts
Ukraine also plans to establish a steady production line for seven Flamingo missiles. Additionally, on March 17, Ukrainian forces struck Russian military logistics targets, hitting a TOR-M2U air defense system and a concentration area of a Russian missile division. These actions highlight Ukraine’s intensified campaign against Russian air defenses and its push to strengthen its own defensive capabilities.
The reduction in Russia’s S-400 systems could significantly shift the regional air balance, creating new opportunities for Ukrainian forces to conduct strikes. At the same time, ramping up production of new missiles like the Flamingo underscores Ukraine’s drive to boost its defense readiness and ability to counter threats. These developments underline the strategic importance of neutralizing enemy air systems for the country’s security.
