Ukraine Now Produces Three Flamingo Missiles Daily; New Engine Set to Boost Output.
Ukraine's Flamingo Missile Production
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine is actively manufacturing Flamingo missiles at a rate of roughly three units per day. The company Fire Point is finalizing the development of its own turbojet engine, which will significantly increase production capacity. The FP-7 and FP-9 models have strike ranges of up to 300 km and 850 km respectively, making them effective tools for hitting distant targets.
The FP-7 model, known as the "Seven," can engage targets up to 300 km away, while the FP-9, or "Nine," reaches up to 850 km. Notably, these missiles rely on an inertial navigation system sourced from abroad. A Fire Point representative stated that the team is now completing work on a domestically produced engine.
"We are currently finishing the development of our own engine," said Denys Shtilerman.
Missile Deployment and Defense Significance
Flamingo missiles have already been used for strikes inside Russian territory. For instance, on February 12, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces confirmed that a GRAU arsenal in the Volgograd region was hit by Flamingo missiles. Additionally, in January, a strike targeted the Kapustin Yar test range. These two facilities—Kapustin Yar and the GRAU arsenal—are located 120 km apart, underscoring the missiles' ability to reach critical military assets deep within enemy territory.
"It is ours, Ukrainian. The rumor that it is a British missile arose because we wanted to conceal the early development of such missiles in Ukraine," commented Denys Shtilerman.
This highlights the importance of localizing production and advancing technology in Ukraine, which in turn strengthens the country's defense capabilities.
As a result, the production of Flamingo missiles and the development of cutting-edge engines mark key steps forward for Ukraine's defense industry. These efforts enable the nation to uphold its national security and carry out effective military operations.
The growth of Ukraine's missile program amid the conflict with Russia carries major strategic weight. Boosting missile output and refining technology not only meets domestic military needs but also showcases the country's defense sector on the global stage. These achievements could attract foreign investment and expertise, further enhancing Ukraine's national security.
