Lyashko: 12 new drugs for breast cancer in Available Medicines

According to inkorr.com: Health Minister Viktor Lyashko announced the addition of 12 new drugs to the 'Available Medicines' program, which are intended for the treatment of breast cancer. Patients can now receive them for free or with a small co-payment at pharmacies.

'The updated list includes drugs with active substances: exemestane, letrozole, and tamoxifen. Previously, these drugs were purchased centrally. The transition to a reimbursement model allows for the optimization of the system: centralized procurement focuses on expensive and high-tech drugs, while long treatment regimens shift to a European logic of pharmacy compensation,' Lyashko explained.

During the transitional period, healthcare institutions will be able to use the remaining supplies of previously purchased drugs until they are completely exhausted.

Stable access and higher quality of life for patients

Lyashko noted that this decision will significantly improve access for thousands of patients to vital medical drugs. Breast cancer treatment, which can last for years, will become more comfortable due to the ability to receive medications close to home, without relying on supplies to specific hospitals.

Procedure for obtaining 'Available Medicines'

  • Contact a doctor with whom a declaration has been made and obtain an electronic prescription.
  • Visit a pharmacy marked 'Available Medicines Here'.
  • Receive the medication for free or with a co-payment using the e-prescription.

The expansion of the 'Available Medicines' program with new drugs for breast cancer treatment allows patients to receive necessary medications effectively and accessibly, improving the quality and convenience of treatment.

This initiative is an important step in providing patients with modern medicines and improving their access to medical services. We hope that thanks to the changes in the 'Available Medicines' program, many women will be able to receive timely and appropriate treatment without excessive financial burdens.
