Ukraine launches free health screening in 2026: who will be able to participate

According to inkorr.com: In 2026, Ukraine will launch a free health screening program aimed at helping approximately 5 million citizens. This information was announced by Deputy Minister of Health Maria Karchevych during a webinar held by the Ministry of Health dedicated to the new initiative.

'It will be free. It is expected that next year at least 5 million people will be able to participate in such a program. Overall, there are about 19 million individuals aged 40 and older in Ukraine,' Karchevych noted.

As reported by 'Interfax', the cost of one screening will be approximately 2,000 hryvnias, which the state will cover for medical institutions for the services provided. Patients will have the opportunity to freely choose a hospital for their examination.

The National Health Service of Ukraine will monitor the program and control the entry of data about conducted examinations into the electronic health care system.

Additional program details

Health Minister Viktor Lyashko previously explained that within the program, a special card will be created to which funds for health check-ups will be deposited. Everyone can independently decide when and where to undergo an examination. The Ministry of Health also plans to involve private clinics in the program.

In the draft state budget for 2026, the government allocated 10 billion hryvnias for the implementation of this initiative. The screening will include cardiovascular system checks, diabetes detection, and mental health assessment.

Thus, the free health screening program will introduce important aspects, such as monitoring, collaboration with private clinics, and budget funding amounting to 10 billion hryvnias.
