Pension payments may be suspended: under what circumstances and how to restore them.
Ukrainians may lose their pensions due to false documents, staying abroad, or temporary departure. Pension Fund specialists explained how to restore payments and what documents are necessary.
When pension payments are suspended
The law allows for the suspension of pension payments by decision of the Pension Fund or the court. Among the reasons may be false data, permanent residence abroad, temporary absence from the country, death, or the status of 'missing person under special circumstances'.

- application for temporary suspension of pensions due to leaving the country;
- death of a citizen;
- receipt of the status 'missing person under special circumstances'.
Pension may also be stopped if the person has not received payments for six months or for other reasons.
How to restore the pension
To restore pension payments, one needs to apply in person to the Pension Fund service center with the necessary documents and write an application. Citizens who are abroad can apply by mail.
If false data is detected that are used in the calculation of the pension, the amount of the payment may be corrected. This year, there have also been changes in the pension amounts for Chernobyl victims and in the conditions for reassigning disability.
