Deal Reached with the Netherlands After Ukrainian Engineers Inspect Eight EU Power Plants.
European Thermal Power Plant Inspections
According to TSN.ua: Engineers from Ukraine have carried out inspections at eight combined heat and power (CHP) plants across the European Union, aiming to identify equipment needed for repairing the nation's energy infrastructure. The assessments took place at facilities in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria, and Croatia, where teams evaluated the condition and potential reuse of machinery.
During the inspections, usable equipment was discovered at the Riga CHP plant. Following the review, Ukraine submitted a formal request to obtain certain components, which would help restore damaged energy sites back home.
Collaboration with EU Nations
In a separate development, Kyiv has secured agreements with the Netherlands to supply equipment to state-owned enterprises, including:
- Ukrnafta
- Ukrgazvydobuvannya
- Ukrtransgaz
These deliveries are expected to kickstart the recovery of energy infrastructure that has been damaged by the ongoing conflict.
At the same time, Ukrainian authorities are emphasizing the need to bolster protection for energy facilities. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated:
“We are working on restoring CHP plants. Ukrainian engineering teams have surveyed decommissioned stations within the EU to secure the necessary repair equipment.”
These steps are part of broader efforts to strengthen the country's energy security amid current challenges.
Rebuilding Ukraine's power grid is a critical priority, especially with the ongoing war and rising security threats. Partnering with EU countries for equipment supplies shows the international community's commitment to supporting Ukraine's energy sector recovery. These actions could significantly stabilize electricity and heat supply, which is vital for reviving the economy and maintaining daily life for the population.
