Ukrainian troops in operational encirclement near Myrnohrad: What does it mean?

According to ТСН: In Myrnohrad, located in the Donetsk region, the situation for the armed forces of Ukraine remains extremely difficult due to a number of problems. Currently, the Ukrainian military is in an operational encirclement.

Explanation of the Situation

This information was expressed by the people's deputy and secretary of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Roman Kotsenko, on Radio Svoboda.

Kotsenko explained that the operational encirclement is different from the tactical one, as in the former case it is possible to 'maneuver within the area in which one is encircled'.

'I call it an operational encirclement from my perspective. There is a tactical encirclement, when the enemy is fully surrounded and cannot even move within the perimeter because they are fully under the enemy's fire. An operational encirclement is when you can move within the area in which you are encircled and carry out some actions, regroupments, units can 'wander around' there. Roughly speaking. But let's say getting there or bringing any supplies or logistics there - that is already impossible,' - noted Kotsenko.

Important Notes

The deputy also emphasized that only the General Staff of the UAF can make the final analysis of the nature of the encirclement.

'I state what I see according to the analysis drawn on the DeepState map. That there is no complete encirclement, neither operational nor tactical in the sense of those old terms, when it was necessary to close completely - that is a fact. But regarding the control of the skies and logistics by the enemy, the situation there, as far as I know, is very complicated,' - emphasized Kotsenko.

It should also be noted that the commander of the BS 'Achilles' battalion announced the possibility of freeing the strategic city 'in the foreseeable future'.

Overall, the situation in Myrnohrad presents new challenges for the Ukrainian troops. The operational encirclement can significantly hinder the activities of the armed forces, but the ability to maneuver gives time for strategic decisions. It is important to follow further news and the response of the General Staff to assess the development of the situation in the region.
