Together with the EU mission in Trinidad and Tobago and local institutions, a screening of the documentary film "20 Days in Mariupol" was organized in the capital of this island country, Port of Spain. This was reported by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya.

This is the first screening of this film in the Caribbean region, held as part of the European Film Festival in Trinidad and Tobago.

The event was attended by local politicians, officials, Foreign Minister Amery Browne, representatives of the academic community, business and cultural figures, as well as students.

"Your city and Mariupol are almost ten thousand kilometers apart," said Kyslytsya during the film presentation. "But for decent people and decent nations, geographic distance doesn't matter, especially when it comes to upholding universal values and resisting vile atrocities."

According to Kyslytsya, "recent events show that peace and security cannot be taken for granted." "Everyone must be prepared to defend their countries and values," he added. "Burying one's head in the sand, the attempt by some to promote temporary solutions leads to real tragedies."

The EU Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Peter Cavendish, emphasized in his speech that "it is important not to allow the Russian invasion... to become the new normal, and instead to try to understand what is happening and what is at stake." "That's what we wanted to show with this film," the ambassador said.
