In Poland, the recruitment center at the Ukrainian consulate general in Lublin received applications from over 500 Ukrainians from 30 countries to participate in the Ukrainian Legion. This was reported by «Ukrinform».

In the recruitment center, which operates at the Ukrainian consulate general in Lublin, they reported receiving over 500 applications from Ukrainian citizens living abroad within a month. Men submitted 90% of applications, women - 10%. Applications are submitted by different people: from students who are ready to take academic leave during their military service, to older individuals who have worked, for example, as builders or truck drivers. However, about half of the applications were submitted by people under 25 years old.

«Most applications come from Ukrainians living in Poland or the Czech Republic, but there are also those from geographically distant regions - the United Kingdom, Ireland, and even Canada and the USA», said a representative of the center.

According to him, the most popular military specialties among young people are UAV operators and assault troops. Among older individuals, most wish to join logistical support units. Women are mainly interested in medical specialties, although there were those who wished to become snipers.

«About 80% of all Ukrainians who applied to join the Legion had no prior military experience, such as having not served mandatory service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces», the report states.

Recall that the recruitment of Ukrainian citizens as volunteers for the Ukrainian Legion started in Lublin. In the first days of the recruitment center's operation, 138 applications for interviews were received through the website, and another 58 through consular offices.

Notably, the number of Ukrainians who have signed up for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland turned out to be extremely small. The formation of the Ukrainian Legion was provided for by a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Poland.

The Ukrainian Legion in Poland was to be trained, armed, and prepared to defend Ukraine, with the Polish army responsible for training, and Kyiv for recruitment.

Poland is ready to start training the first few hundred Ukrainian volunteers who decide to join the Ukrainian Legion.
