Yulia Tymoshenko is suspected: NABU investigates the offer of bribes to MPs.
Suspicion of Yulia Tymoshenko
According to TSN.ua: Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Fatherland party, received a suspicion from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) on January 14, 2023. The suspicion is announced under part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (CCU) in connection with the proposal of improper advantage to public officials, including members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
As part of this investigation, searches were conducted in the office of the Fatherland party. Tymoshenko confirmed the information about the searches, stating that 30 armed men were present in the office, who, according to her, seized the building. She also categorically rejected all accusations, calling them absurd.
NABU reported that the proceedings were opened due to the offer of improper advantage to a public official, which may entail punishment of up to 8 years in prison. It is noted that this case concerns the provision of improper advantages to members of the Verkhovna Rada.
Reactions and Consequences
Yulia Tymoshenko stated in her announcement:
“Just now, the so-called urgent investigative actions that lasted all night were completed at the party office of 'Fatherland'” - Yulia Tymoshenko.
At the same time, Olga Postolyuk, commenting on the situation, said: “This is an offer of improper advantage to public officials, namely by a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.”
Thus, the circumstances of the case have caused a wide resonance, and the subsequent actions of law enforcement and Tymoshenko's position will become the subject of public attention.
This situation could have significant implications not only for Tymoshenko herself but also for the political atmosphere in Ukraine as a whole. In the context of the ongoing fight against corruption and the need to restore trust in state institutions, such investigations become extremely important. The public's reaction to these events, as well as the subsequent actions of law enforcement, may influence the political situation in the country, particularly regarding support or opposition to Tymoshenko and her party.
