According to Novyny.live: Residents of the Okhtyrka community in the Sumy region can apply for financial assistance from UNHCR Ukraine, the UN Refugee Agency's office, starting February 10, 2026. This aid is targeted at vulnerable groups who have not received similar support in the preceding three months. Eligible individuals can receive 3,600 hryvnias per person each month for three months, with a total maximum aid amount of 10,800 hryvnias over this period. This program is part of ongoing international efforts to support communities affected by the war in Ukraine.
Registration Process and Vulnerability Criteria
Registration will take place in the city of Okhtyrka, and applicants must call 063 182 68 38 to begin the process. To qualify, a household's income per person must not exceed 6,300 hryvnias. The vulnerability criteria for receiving aid include:
- Single-parent families with young children or members aged 55 and over;
- Households headed by a person over the age of 55;
- Families with a single adult (aged 55+) raising children;
- Households containing persons with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
These conditions are designed to assist those in the greatest need during this difficult time.
This initiative represents a crucial step in providing social support for vulnerable populations, particularly amid ongoing economic instability.
The financial aid from UNHCR Ukraine can significantly ease the burden on families facing hardship and help them maintain basic living standards. The program's implementation also underscores the vital role of international support for Ukraine as it navigates profound social challenges.
