UNHCR Assistance Program in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Ukraine has announced the opening of registration for a new assistance program, which is scheduled to launch in February 2026. This initiative will provide financial support to several categories of citizens, including the elderly. Residents of the city of Trostianets in the Sumy region will be able to access these payments starting from February 13, 2025.

This program is part of ongoing international efforts to support vulnerable populations affected by the conflict. The financial aid will amount to 3,600 hryvnias per person over a three-month period, with a maximum potential payment of approximately 11,000 hryvnias. A key eligibility requirement is that an individual's income must not exceed 6,300 hryvnias per month, ensuring the aid targets those with the greatest financial need.

Program Participation Requirements

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has authorized the identification procedure to continue until July 1, 2026, allowing a greater number of people to access the program. In a separate but related effort, the organization Caritas will provide financial assistance of 19,400 hryvnias in February 2026, and UNHCR will disburse aid totaling 10,800 hryvnias in one frontline community.

This program represents a significant step in supporting vulnerable segments of the population, particularly the elderly, who may require additional assistance under challenging circumstances. It is crucial for residents of Trostianets to be aware of the registration conditions and criteria for receiving this financial support.

The launch of this UNHCR assistance program is a vital component of social support in Ukraine, especially given the economic challenges faced by vulnerable population groups.

Providing financial support for the elderly and other needy groups can significantly improve their material well-being and overall quality of life. Given the program's timeline, residents of Trostianets have an opportunity to prepare for registration to take advantage of these payments.
