The villages of Urych and Vorokhta, located in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, have been recognized by the UN as 'Best Tourism Villages'. Urych is known for the remnants of the Tustan Fortress, while Vorokhta boasts stunning nature surrounded by a mountainous landscape.

'Urych is located in the ethnographic region of Boikivshchyna, where traditions, dialects, and crafts are cultivated. As a leader in heritage tourism, Urych not only showcases its historical and cultural treasures but also emphasizes sustainable tourism practices, creating an engaging experience for visitors while ensuring the protection of its unique heritage' - noted on The Best Tourism Villages website.

'A picturesque mountain resort in the Ukrainian Carpathians at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level. Nestled along the pristine Prut River and surrounded by majestic mountains and lush forests, it offers a rich natural environment that promotes health and well-being due to its vitamin D-rich climate. Vorokhta is not only a place for relaxation but also a vibrant adventure hub with a variety of accommodation options for guests: from hotels to guest houses' - specialists noted.

The announcement of the winners was made at the 122nd session of the UN Executive Council on Tourism in Cartagena (Colombia). The award ceremony will take place on November 28 at the III National Tourism Summit in Lviv.

The Best Tourism Villages project was created to promote rural tourism, preserve landscapes, cultural diversity, local values, and culinary traditions. The network includes 254 villages from around the world.

Applications from candidates were reviewed by representatives of the Advisory Council among 260 participants from over 60 countries. They assessed natural resources, cultural preservation, economic and social sustainability, ecology, tourism development, governance, infrastructure, and health and safety.

Among the winners, there are also villages from Spain, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Mexico, Panama, and other countries.

As a reminder, in Italy, banks of air from Lake Como, which has become popular among tourists, have started being sold. Thus, tourists will have the opportunity to take a piece of the resort atmosphere with them.
