In Ukraine, 69% of water supply facilities do not meet standards - State Consumer Service.
According to inkorr.com: The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (State Consumer Service) conducted a large-scale study on the quality of drinking water across the country in early 2025. Unfortunately, the monitoring results indicate serious problems with water supply that may pose a threat to public health.
According to the State Consumer Service, numerous violations of sanitary norms were recorded during inspections at enterprises and water supply facilities. In particular, over 69% of the inspected facilities had issues with water quality, which poses a danger to consumers.
Serious violations such as poor sanitary and technical condition and insufficient provision of disinfection means were found at one-quarter of wastewater treatment facilities.
Laboratory studies confirmed alarming results: over 23,000 samples of centralized water and more than 1,000 samples of non-centralized water did not meet quality standards. In connection with the identified violations, over 3,000 recommendations were provided to local governments, of which more than 40% have already been implemented. Fines have also been imposed, and cases have been referred to law enforcement agencies.
Conclusion
The study by the State Consumer Service confirmed the presence of widespread problems with water supply quality in Ukraine, which poses a serious threat to citizens' health. The negative impact of the war on infrastructure significantly underscores the need for urgent measures to improve water quality and ensure public safety. The monitoring results indicate the relevance of strengthening control and implementing new standards in the water supply sector.
