Ukraine Stimulates Birth Rate: What Payments Future Mothers Will Receive.
Ukraine is facing a serious demographic crisis caused by the full-scale war, which has led to the worst birth-to-death ratio in Europe. This was reported by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmantsev, in an interview with a news portal.
Government Measures to Address the Demographic Crisis
According to Hetmantsev, the conflict in the east of the country has significantly affected birth rates in Ukraine. The government plans to increase assistance for new mothers and young families, in particular, the increase in childbirth payments is under consideration to support people in such a difficult situation.
“The Cabinet of Ministers has submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada to increase childbirth payments — a one-time payment of 50,000 hryvnias. Monthly payments of 7,000 hryvnias are also planned for pregnant women and an additional 7,000 hryvnias per month until the child reaches one year of age. These are a set of measures aimed at improving the demographic situation in Ukraine.”
Hetmantsev also noted that demographic problems existed in the country even before the war, and Ukraine had the highest mortality rate in Europe long before the conflict. He urged active support for young families and mothers to strengthen the demographic situation in the country.
Ukraine has faced a challenging demographic situation due to the war, so the authorities are taking measures to stimulate birth rates and support young families to overcome this crisis.
